RM of Big Quill’s story
The Rural Municipality of Big Quill No. 308 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. It lies in the east-central part of Saskatchewan, surrounding the town of Wynyard, where the RM's office is located.
Two places in the municipality are on the Canadian Register of Historic Places. Amma's House, on the Yellowhead Highway about 17 kilometres west of Wynyard, was built by Icelandic carpenters in 1919. St. John Bohoslav Krasne Ukrainian Catholic Church, about 20 kilometres south-east of Wynyard, was built in 1940.
Besides Wynyard, the RM includes the organized hamlet of Kandahar, the special service area of Dafoe, and the localities of Copeland and Krasne. Today it is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Wednesday of each month.
